Alabama really does build them differently.
And if I had to pick one word to describe Mack Wilson’s athletic ability, different would be a pretty solid choice.
During practice yesterday the former crimson tide linebacker made a wild diving interception and returning it for a score.

At one point in time, Wilson was expected to be one of the top linebackers taken in the NFL draft but slid all the way down to the sixth round when he decided to leave after his junior season. Despite the situation at the time, it hasn’t stopped Wilson from showing up every day with his hard hat and lunch pail.
But his performance isn’t just catching the eye of the millions of fans on social media. His play is impressing his coaches and teammates as well.
“I love his athleticism,” said defensive coordinator Steve Wilks via the team’s website. “When you look at him out in space, he plays well, good change in direction. When you look at the matchups throughout this league, a lot of times you do not have safeties that can cover these big tight ends so you need a linebacker that can run. That is the mode that we have right now. He fits that mode right there being able to cover a tight end as well.”
If Wilson continues to outperform his draft position, then he’ll be well on his way to join the list of late Alabama draftees who defy their critics.
