PODCAST: Scooby Carter hits transfer portal; Tide dealing with injuries

Alabama has two games left on its regular season schedule, but its hope for the College Football Playoff remains alive.

The Crimson Tide will face Western Carolina on Saturday for senior day; however, one player will not be involved. Jeffery ScoobyCarter, a freshman, placed his name into the NCAA transfer portal on Monday.

A native of Mansfield, Texas, Carter was a four-star via Touchdown Alabama Magazine and one of the top cornerbacks in the 2019 recruiting cycle.

With him gone, it hurts Alabama in terms of depth – yet it has talent returning next year.

Along with this, the Tide is nursing injuries. The trio of Raekwon Davis (ankle) DJ Dale (knee) and Phidarian Mathis are all banged up on the defensive line. Henry Ruggs III, a junior at wide receiver, sustained bruised ribs versus Mississippi State.

Nick Saban listed all four players as ‘very questionable’ for Western Carolina. He is looking forward to seeing what some of the younger players can provide, in terms of creating depth. In Tuesday’s airing of In My Own Words, yours truly of Touchdown Alabama Magazine updates fans on Carter and Alabama’s injuries this week.
