Nick Saban picks up a huge verbal commitment at a position of need.
Despite having some talent at tight end, Alabama could use more depth and experience and Wednesday provided it with both. Carl Tucker, a graduate transfer from North Carolina, announced via Twitter that he’s committed to the Crimson Tide.

A native of Concord, N.C., Tucker visited the University of Alabama and enjoyed himself.
Listed at 6-foot-2 and 248 pounds, he gives the Tide a physical presence on third down and an option in the red zone.
Once a three-star prospect, Tucker totaled 36 catches for 549 yards with four touchdowns in three seasons with the Tar Heels. After redshirting his initial freshman year in 2015, Tucker played from 2016 to 2019.
Along with his exploits as a pass catcher, Tucker is also an exceptional run blocker. He set the edge for eight 500-plus yard rushers – including one 1,000-yard season from Michael Carter (1,003) last year.
