With the state of Alabama ending its “stay at home” order on Thursday and the University of Alabama looking into having its second semester of summer classes on June 30, it is beginning to look like the college football season could start on time.
On last week, Nick Saban was on the Paul Finebaum Show and he proposed an idea of having four weeks of summer practice before fall camp.
This thought was followed by Brett McMurphy of Stadium, as he posted an article on the NCAA’s Football Oversight Committee wanting a six-week practice period before the start of the season.
Should the recommendation be approved by the NCAA’s COVID-19 Advisory Panel, we could see how quickly can the students and student-athletes return to campus. A six-week practice period would allow for Saban and the Crimson Tide’s coaching staff to catch all players up to speed.

As productive as the Zoom meetings have been, nothing is better than one-on-one communication and interaction with the staff and players. Alabama is trying to contend for its 18th national championship in school history and No. 7 overall for Saban.
Having a summer program would benefit the freshmen, older players and those returning from injuries in 2019.
On Wednesday, yours truly of Touchdown Alabama Magazine spoke on the benefits of having the summer program on In My Own Words.
