Mac Jones dominated two sessions of Patriots minicamp

Mac Jones (#10) gives a thumbs up for Patriots in matchup versus Texans

Mac Jones is having fun, and he’s on fire at the Patriots minicamp.

Cam Newton, Jones’ former teammate, said the second-year player is going to be a “great quarterback.”

“He’s a young gun,” Newton said about Jones on the Pivot Podcast. As he enters his second season, Jones has command of New England’s offense. According to reporters at minicamp, Jones has been sharp on deep passes, short/intermediate routes, and timing with his wide receivers. He’s dominated two sessions of camp, completing 40 of 47 passes and putting them on target.

He’s encountered a few dropped passes, but Jones has been vibing with Kendrick Bourne, Tre Nixon, and Nelson Agholor.

Josh McDaniels helped Jones set franchise rookie records in 2021, but the former first-round pick is poised to take the next step of his young career without McDaniels. His teammates are confident in him, and Bill Belichick likes what he sees in Jones.

The Patriots are seeing a fun side of Jones too as he played some air guitar to lighten the mood.

Hopefully, he will continue having success in minicamp.
