Alabama football’s 2027 recruiting class is not expected to be as big as the first two classes Kalen DeBoer brought in, but that does not mean this group will be lacking in talent.
DeBoer gave some insight on why the Tide’s class will be smaller while talking about how well the Tide has retained players at the SEC spring meetings.
“I think just when it comes to the recruiting… These young guys that I’m referring to in the first two classes, they’ve kind of stayed the course and believe in what we’re doing, what we’re building,” DeBoer said. “We got to find the next group. That won’t be a big group this fall, I think it will be much less than what we’ve had the last two seasons, but a lot of that’s because we have retained well and brought in a group of transfers and don’t have many seniors.”
Elijah Haven, who is a five-star quarterback prospect, is one of Alabama football’s 2027 commits. He is doing his part to ensure a smaller class for Alabama is indeed special.
“I’ve definitely been trying to help get our class going and putting pieces together,” Haven told Touchdown Alabama. “I’ve reached out to our commits so far and guys who are considering, so we can be something great in the future.”
Haven is one of several quarterbacks who earned an invite to the Elite 11 Finals. He and fellow Alabama 2027 quarterback commit Trent Seaborn will participate in the prestigious event this weekend.
The 2026 Elite 11 Finals will feature advanced, one-on-one quarterback coaching, intense competition, on-field drills, classroom instruction, and holistic development. The Elite 11 roster will be selected from this group, and the quarterbacks selected will participate in Nike’s The Opening Finals in Beaverton, Oregon.
“I’m most excited about just having the opportunity to get better and have fun with other guys who are in my position,” Haven said. “It’s going to be a great weekend overall, for sure.”
