Many Alabama fans are shocked and disappointed on social media.
Peter Woods, a five-star defensive lineman, verbally committed to Clemson over Alabama, Florida, and Jackson State.
Woods is arguably the top in-state defensive prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. He is a dynamic lineman for Thompson High School (Alabaster, Ala.), and has won multiple state championships. Woods has been a diehard Crimson Tide fan since childhood and has held a scholarship offer from Alabama since the ninth grade. His former high school teammates, Jeremiah Alexander and Tre’Quon Fegans, are enrolled as freshmen at Alabama. Tony Mitchell, Woods’ teammate at Thompson, has verbally committed to the Tide for the 2023 class. People are surprised he chose the Tigers, especially with his connections to the Alabama program.
Nick Saban and the Tide can still flip Woods for the early signing period in December, but Alabama fans took to Twitter to share their reactions to Woods picking Clemson.

When you feel confident about a kid coming to BAMA so you get relaxed and not continue to show the love he goes somewhere else , but in my opinion he made a bad decision. But I’m sure he was promised early playing time along with some good NIL money 💴
