Nick Saban feels matchup with Texas A&M is ‘still a really big game’

Some feel Alabama vs. Texas A&M has lost some of its hype since the Aggies have dropped multiple games this season, but Nick Saban is not falling victim to the ‘rat poison.’

The Crimson Tide will enter this weekend’s matchup 5-0 after defeating Arkansas in Fayetteville. The Aggies are coming off a loss to Mississippi State and are currently 3-2. Saban feels this weekend’s game is still a big one for Alabama despite the Aggies’ current record.

“The media sort of makes things out to be some kind of way,” Saban said on Hey Coach Thursday. “I have been asked various questions about, this was supposed to be the big game and it is not as big a game now. It is a big game. This is a really big game for us.”

Texas A&M may not be undefeated, but this one still has intrigue. The Aggies and the Crimson Tide will finally get an opportunity to settle things on the field after words were exchanged between Jimbo Fisher and Saban. The Tide will also have an opportunity to redeem the loss they suffered at the hands of the Aggies last season.

Both teams could also be without their starting quarterbacks Saturday. Max Johnson, who started for the Aggies in their wins over Arkansas and Miami, has a broken bone in his throwing hand, and he is expected to miss Saturday’s game, per reports. Haynes King is expected to be the Aggies’ starter.

Alabama quarterback, Bryce Young will be a game-time decision, according to Saban. If he is not able to go, Jalen Milroe is expected to be the Crimson Tide’s starting signal caller.

“There is no real damage in his shoulder, so this is not a long-term thing,” Saban said when discussing the latest on Young on Hey Coach. “But he still has some soreness. We will have to make a game-time decision in pregame to see if he can throw the ball well enough to do his job.”

Saturday’s game will kick off at 7 p.m. CST I’m Bryant-Denny Stadium.
