There is a buzz around Alabama football’s five-star defensive back commit, Tony Mitchell, ahead of National Signing Day with Texas A&M and Auburn continuing to make pushes for the Thompson product.

The Aggies and the Tigers have been consistent in their push for Mitchell for several months. He has been open about his interest in both programs in the past. Texas A&M has hosted him multiple times over the last few months, and the Aggies have a good relationship with him.

“They really show they want me,” Mitchell told Touchdown Alabama during the football season. “They stay in contact with me every day. Coach Jimbo, coach Rushing, really just the whole entire staff. So, they showing a lot of interest. They care about my family. They got relationships with my people and that means a lot to me.”

Auburn kept Zac Etheridge as its secondary coach after hiring Hugh Freeze as its head coach. Etheridge has a great relationship with Mitchell.

“Them guys stay in contact with me every day as well, just pushing how they need me, come change the program and stuff like that,” said Mitchell.

Alabama has also hosted the in-state recruit, and he has spoken highly of his relationship with Alabama’s cornerbacks coach Travaris Robinson.

Mitchell will announce his final decision Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. CST.
