The University of Alabama has had some special football teams in its program history, but was the 2020 group the greatest?
A media outlet conducted a poll and Crimson Tide voted the 2020 Alabama championship team as the greatest of all time.

The team had an unstoppable offense with Mac Jones, Najee Harris, DeVonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle, a valuable offensive line, and Steve Sarkisian running the show as an elite play-caller. Alabama had three Heisman Trophy finalists on the team — Jones, Harris, and Smith — and Smith became the first Tide wide receiver to win the Heisman Memorial Trophy. Fans believe the 2020 team is the all-time greatest for Alabama, but a former Tide legend questions it. George Teague, an All-SEC and All-American safety in 1992, played under Gene Stallings in the school’s undefeated SEC and national championship season in 1992.

Teague said the 2020 Alabama team had a great offense, but it did not have a great defense.

So, he wants to know what makes a team the best in history. Both sides of the ball have to be elite or at least complement each other well to be considered the best team in history. We will see if other polls come out discussing the best team in Alabama football history.
