We have made it to July and SEC Football Media Days are coming soon.
The University of Alabama looks to return to the College Football Playoff in the fall and win a national championship. Nick Saban has several talented players, but which ones will emerge as the most impactful?
The staff at Touchdown Alabama Magazine will spotlight numerous players for the upcoming season.
After looking at Malik Benson, we continue with wide receivers and Kobe Prentice is next.
Kobe Prentice
Classification: Sophomore
Hometown: Calera, Ala.
Position: Wide Receiver
Size: 5-10/182 pounds
2022 stats: 31 catches, 337 receiving yards, two touchdowns (13 games, three starts)
Strengths: Athleticism, route-running, can separate from defenders, explosive speed, good hands, a fierce competitor
Weaknesses: Needs to continue growing in the playbook
Summary
Kobe Prentice made one or two small mistakes as a freshman, but he is a star in the making.
He had the best numbers of the freshmen receivers for Alabama, totaling 31 catches for 337 yards and two touchdowns.
Prentice played in 13 games — including three starts — and his scores came against Arkansas and Kansas State. The 5-foot-10, 182-pounder can make contested catches, has blazing speed, executes good routes, and separates well from defenders.
His competitiveness allowed him to get early playing time. If he continues to grow in the playbook with a new quarterback, Prentice may be virtually impossible to stop in the fall. He has the potential to become a marquee wide receiver.
