We have made it to July and SEC Football Media Days are coming soon.
The University of Alabama looks to return to the College Football Playoff in the fall and win a national championship. Nick Saban has several talented players, but which ones will emerge as the most impactful?
The staff at Touchdown Alabama Magazine will spotlight numerous players for the upcoming season.
After looking at Roydell Williams, Jam Miller is next in breaking down running backs.
Hometown: Tyler, Texas
Position: Running Back
Size: 5-10/211 pounds
2022 stats: 233 rushing yards (33 carries), two touchdowns, 6.7 yards per carry (highest among RBs)
Strengths: Size, athleticism, game experience (13 games in 2022), power, speed, versatility (special teams)
Weaknesses: Needs more game reps
Jam Miller came in the 2022 signing class for Alabama with five-star Emmanuel Henderson, but the former four-star produced an impressive career at Tyler (Texas) Legacy High School.
Miller owns the school’s career record for rushing yards, totaling nearly 5,000 across four years. His toughness allowed Nick Saban to move Henderson to become a full-time wide receiver. Miller made the most of his opportunities in 13 games as a freshman, leading all running backs with 6.7 yards per carry. He totaled 233 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 33 attempts.
The 5-foot-10, 211-pounder brings a pinball running style that resembles former Tide standout, Josh Jacobs.
Miller has impressive contact balance and does have speed in space.
He will only get better with more game reps. Miller gives the team effort as a back and on special teams, but he needs more opportunities to show his skill set. Hopefully, it will come for him in the upcoming fall for the Crimson Tide.
