Will Alabama football’s freshman QB play baseball and football?

Alabama freshman QB Dylan Lonergan (#12) celebrates a TD pass to RB Justice Haynes (#22) in the Crimson Tide's spring game.

An update on Alabama football’s freshman quarterback, Dylan Lonergan’s baseball future was provided on Monday.

The Crimson Tide’s head baseball coach Rob Vaughn discussed Lonergan Monday and revealed the plan at the moment is for him to ‘come over’ in January, but only time will tell if that happens.

“We’ve had some conversations about that,” Vaughn said. “We’ve talked to Dylan. Dylan’s talked with coach a lot over there. Obviously, football comes first for him. A lot of that, the plan is for him to come over in January. That’s been the conversation is for him to come over in January and start working with us and doing some things with us. I think time will tell on that. That guy starts getting too many snaps this fall, things can change. Everything can change.”

Lonergan signed with Alabama as a member of its 2023 recruiting class with plans to play both sports at the collegiate level. He was listed on the Tide’s 2023 baseball roster as a pitcher.
