Former Alabama 5-Star signee Antonio Alfano emerging as top JUCO prospect

Antonio Alfano staring at Alabama practice

Former Alabama football five-star signee, and the former No. 1 recruit in the country, Antonio Alfano is making a comeback to college football in a big way.

Alfano attends Lackawanna College in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and he is starting to earn Power 5 offers.

LSU and Texas have offered Alfano within the last week to go along with previous offers from Utah State, UTSA, South Florida, Liberty and others.

Alfano was a member of the Crimson Tide’s 2019 recruiting class. He departed from the program during the fall of his freshman season, and Nick Saban said the highly-touted prospect ‘quit.’

“I just know that the guy basically quit. He quit going to class, he quit coming here,” Saban said in September of 2019.

Alfano’s next stop was Colorado, where he did not play due to being unable to practice due to medical issues and was suspended for a team violation soon after. He was reinstated, but his medical issues continued which caused him to release a statement.

“I pray that I at least get the answers I need to be on the right medication, so I can just get my life back,” Alfano said in the statement. “Football isn’t a reality for me right now, the only thing I care about most is getting my life back and not being controlled by this medication.”

Alfano eventually transferred to Independence Community College in Kansas, but he still did not play in an actual football game. His last stop was Lackawanna, where he has revived his football future.

The New Jersey native is listed at 6-foot-5 and 285 pounds on Lackawanna’s roster, and he has been impressive this season along the defensive front.

Alfano’s offer list is growing and he should be back playing major college football sooner than later.
