Alabama football signed 23 freshmen in its 2024 recruiting class, including three offensive linemen.

Nick Saban likes what he has in Casey Poe (four-star), Will Sanders (four-star), and Joseph Ionata (three-star), but is he finished with recruiting that position? The 72-year-old addressed reporters on Wednesday after signing day and practice to discuss the offensive line. Poe, Sanders, and Ionata all have potential, but Saban knows the offensive line is a developmental position.

He is not ruling out an option of looking into the NCAA transfer portal.

“We think they have a lot of potential,” Saban said about Poe, Sanders, and Ionata.

“Those guys are guys we think have a lot of ability, we know a lot about them, and we had them in camp. We are excited about having them here, we think they can develop into good prospects and good players. I still think we are still in the market looking for those kinds of offensive linemen. We are happy to have them, but we are still looking to add some people at that position.”

Alabama is expected to lose JC Latham to the NFL Draft. Seth McLaughlin and Darrian Dalcourt are departing as well.

Alabama has success with Landon Dickerson as a transfer. He came in from Florida State as an offensive guard in 2019, and propelled the Crimson Tide to a College Football Playoff National Champion as a center in 2020. The Tide brought in Tyler Steen as an offensive tackle in 2022. We will see who could be the latest pick up for the Tide from the portal on the offensive line.
