Alabama football will be down another ‘Wolf’ linebacker against Mercer, and this one for a different reason.
Keanu Koht, a former four-star in the 2021 recruiting class, is suspended from the team.

Kalen DeBoer, the Crimson Tide’s head coach, announced the news to the media in Monday’s presser. Koht, a native Floridian, did not travel to play in last week’s matchup versus Louisiana State University in Alabama’s 42-13 victory. The 6-foot-4, 242-pounder has five total tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss, and half a sack in seven games this season. Koht had four tackles last season in three games.
“Not getting into length or anything like that, but won’t be with us this weekend,” DeBoer said of Koht’s status for Alabama’s game against Mercer.
Kane Wommack, the Tide’s defensive coordinator, said Koht ‘won’t be with the team’ against Mercer.
“I’ll let Kalen kind of address those things,” Wommack said Monday.
No one knows what Koht did, but he is in hot water with the team right now.
Alabama is already down Que Robinson for the season with an upper body injury, but Koht’s suspension hurts the depth at outside linebacker. Qua Russaw is the starter at Wolf, but now he has Yhonzae Pierre, Noah Carter (freshman) and Jayshawn Ross (freshman) behind him. We will see how Wommack creates opportunities for others to step up moving forward.
