Alabama defenders, James Smith and Qua Russaw recently worked with out with NFL defensive lineman, Marlon Davidson.

Davidson is a defensive lineman for the Tennessee Titans. He will be entering his fourth year in the league this upcoming NFL season. Russaw and Smith are gearing up for their third season with the Crimson Tide after being rated as five-star recruits.

The trio has worked out under Madhouse Athletic Training’s Tracey Varner for years.

Smith is one of the Alabama defenders, who many feel are poised for a breakout year. The Tide’s veteran defensive lineman, LT Overton spoke highly of Smith during the spring.

“James is a hell of a player,” Overton said. “Just talking about somebody with motor, that’s going to be James. When James getting hyped, the whole defense getting hyped. So like him just being out there on that field really is a big impact. I don’t think he realizes how much of an impact he is.”

Russaw is expected to be a prominent member of Alabama’s defense rushing from the edge. He is putting an emphasis on getting to the quarterback more often in 2025.

“This offseason, I’ve been working on my pass rush, just being explosive because I know I can do it,” Russaw said during the spring. “I’m fast. I’m explosive…Just being comfortable, just going, just not thinking too much, which I’ve been working on that a lot this spring.”
