Ty Simpson feels he has a better understanding of his game as a quarterback ahead of Alabama taking on Georgia on the road on Saturday.

Simpson has been playing like the ‘hottest’ quarterback in college football over the last few weeks, according to Kirby Smart. The former five-star has thrown for 862 yards and nine touchdowns on the season while completing 41 of his 46 passes in the Tide’s last two wins.

Alabama is now preparing to face its biggest challenge of the season on the road against a talented Georgia team, and Simpson is excited about the opportunity.

“I think the first game we didn’t really know what to expect and it was just the first start,” Simpson said. “Having a couple games under my belt definitely helps understanding like this is what I need to do to prepare better and understand everything like that and just kind of know what I do best and understand my game better. So, it’ll be exciting, and I’m super, super blessed.”

Smart knows he will have to have his defense prepared to slow down Simpson with his ability to make plays with his feet and arm.

“He’s (Ty Simpson’s) a really good athlete,” Smart told reporters on Monday. “He’s a tremendous athlete… he’s a talented player. I would probably say that he’s probably the hottest quarterback in all of college football right now. His two last outings, I don’t know if I’ve seen an incompletion.”
