Alabama football is tied with Vanderbilt at halftime.
This game has had a different flow to it than what many may have expected. Here is a look at some things the Tide needs to do to better to execute in the second half:
– Be Committed To The Run Game
Jam Miller is running the football and having success and so is Kevin Riley. This needs to continue to be a focal point for the Crimson Tide, specifically inside runs.
-Stop Vanderbilt Explosive Runs
Vanderbilt has gashed the Crimson Tide with big runs. The holes on those runs were big enough for a truck to drive through because Vanderbilt pushed the Tide’s defense off the ball. Alabama fared better against those runs later in the first half.
– Put Established Drives Together
Alabama football’s ability to tie plays together and sustain long drives has been a strength of the Crimson Tide this season. These will be critical in the second half.
– Better Special Teams Execution
Alabama’s Conor Talty missed a 47-yard field goal and Blake Doud had a bad punt when the Crimson Tide were already pinned back deep. This game is tight and every point counts. Field possession is also very important.
– More Explosive Offensive Plays
Alabama’s offense has had a lack of explosive plays in this one outside of its last crucial drive in the first half.
