Former Alabama football running back, Damien Harris feels the Crimson Tide’s expectations and ceiling ‘might be higher’ under Lane Kiffin.
Harris was answering the question of whether Kiffin would be a better fit at Alabama than DeBoer when the CBS Sports college football analyst gave this take.
“I played for Lane,” Harris said. “I understand the mindset that Lane has, and I also know that Lane is a part of that Nick Saban coaching tree, and seeing the success that he’s had at Ole Miss, if you give him the keys and the reins at Alabama, I think that people would expect the potential to be a little bit higher. And I’ll put it to you this way. When Kalen DeBoer was hired, there was a lot of grumbling. If something were to happen, this scenario we’re talking about, Alabama loses to Auburn, Kalen DeBoer takes the Penn State job. If Lane Kiffin says he wants to go to Alabama, I don’t think those same rumblings are gonna happen just because, like I said, the potential, the ceiling of an Alabama program, it just might be higher with Lane Kiffin than Kalen DeBoer.”
Kiffin is thought of as a serious coaching candidate for multiple coaching jobs. DeBoer’s name has only been linked as a candidate for the Penn State job.
Both coaches are in a position to lead their respective teams to the College Football Playoff.
