Thompson hybrid DB reacts to Alabama offer: “I love the program”

Alabama football extended an offer to one of the most talented defensive backs in the country when the Crimson Tide offered Junior James.

James is a junior at Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama. He holds offers from some of the best programs in the country with offers from Alabama, Georgia, Oregon and Texas A&M.

The Crimson Tide hosted James several times during the 2025 football season before offering him. They have also been continuing to build their relationship with the talented defensive back.

“I have been in contact with Bama since last summer when I went to their camp,” James told Touchdown Alabama. “I’ve been in contact with everyone from Courtney Morgan, coach (Jason) Jones, coach (Jatavis) Sanders and coach (Kevin) Green, and I made a few trips down the fall, and I could tell they had interest by the conversations I had this postseason. I was just waiting on the offer patiently, knowing that when the time is right, the Lord will make it happen.”

The Thompson product also shared he is looking forward to visiting the Tide in the spring.

“I plan on going during the spring to visit,” James said. “I love the program. They are very well known for producing NFL talent, building discipline and holding a high standard not only in football but in life too. I think they’re run by countless great coaches and have great success when it comes to building players.”

At 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, James was a ball-hawking defensive back for the Warriors during the last football season. He displayed versatility while lining up at different spots within the Warriors’ defense. He was exceptional against the run when he was called upon to get downhill and make tackles. He also stood out in coverage with his length.
