The Carolina Panthers moved on from former Alabama defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson on Tuesday. The team announced that it will be releasing Robinson who spent the past two seasons in Carolina.
Releasing Robinson will free up roughly $10 million in cap space for the franchise as he was entering the final year or a three-year $22.5 million contract he signed in 2024.
The move alleviates a fair bit of financial constraints on the Panthers’ front office who has been busy in the early days of NFL free agency. The franchise has handed out massive deals to linebackers Jaelan Phillips and Devin Lloyd to improve the unit.
Robinson, 30, has played 10 seasons in the NFL spending time with the Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Rams and New York Giants. He played in all 18 games for Carolina in 2025 where he recorded 65 total tackles, 2.5 sacks and three tackles for loss.
Prior to his days in the NFL, Robinson was a five-star recruit Alabama where he played a major part on the 2015 defense which won the national championship while being named a consensus All-American.
