Alabama’s defense will be without a highly productive presence in spring practice.

Kalen DeBoer named sophomore London Simmons as one of three players that will be out because of an injury. The announcement came in Tuesday’s media availability for DeBoer as Simmons prepares himself to be ready for summer workouts, fall camp, and next season.

The native Mississippian turned in an impressive freshman campaign for a former three-star prospect in 2025. He became a force with Tim Keenan III and Jeremiah Beaman having injuries early on, totaling 19 tackles – including 1.5 stops for loss and 1.5 sacks – two quarterback hurries and a fumble recovery in 15 games. Simmons earned a spot on the Southeastern Conference’s All-Freshman Team via the league’s coaches and Crimson Tide supporters are excited to see what he does in the fall. The 6-foot-3, 302-pounder will get numerous mental reps this spring, but who makes the biggest jump with him out?
Jeremiah Beaman
Jeremiah Beaman was set up for success in 2025 – especially after an injury to Tim Keenan in preseason camp – yet he suffered a season-ending injury himself.
Kalen DeBoer details areas where Alabama must improve this season
He has played in five career games, but the in-state product was regarded as one of the best interior defensive linemen in the 2024 recruiting cycle. The former Parker High School product is a force of a nose tackle at 6-foot-4 and 303 pounds. Beaman is the ideal choice to step up in Simmons’ absence to position himself as the primary backup or take a starting role.
Terrance Green (transfer from Oregon)
Alabama dipped into the NCAA transfer portal and grabbed production on the defensive front.
Terrance Green made his presence felt across 25 games at the University of Oregon, accumulating 22 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack, and two pass breakups.
He helped the Ducks reach the semifinals of the College Football Playoff last year, but the native Texan is hungry to assist the Tide to the top of the mountain. His experience and size (6-5/319) would be imposing in the middle. It will be interesting to see how quickly he grasps everything.
Steve Bolo Mboumoua
Steve Bolo Mboumoua is the one player Alabama fans really want to see dominate.
Freddie Roach brought the native Canadian in and the former four-star worked in three matchups last season.
Mboumoua was mostly a scout team player; however, he did record five tackles – including one for loss in 2025.
Kalen DeBoer says transfer lineman “built himself up” after joining Alabama
The 6-foot-4, 301-pounder is a massive specimen that would prevent any offense from running the football. He fits the nose tackle role perfectly, but how much of a push will he make in the spring? The former junior college product has to rise up.
Kedrick Bingley-Jones (transfer from Miss. State)
Many look at Kedrick Bingley-Jones as a depth piece, but his experience was intriguing enough for Alabama to select him out the portal.
The Mississippi State transfer had 32 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, a quarterback hurry, and a pass breakup in 17 games as a Bulldog in 2024 and 2025. He spent his first four seasons (2020-23) at the University of North Carolina, but injuries hampered his career. Bingley-Jones contributed in 23 games, yet he fits more as a traditional run stopper.
He has yet to display qualities as an interior pass rusher; nevertheless, he may feel like this is his final chance to be impactful.
