He has been busy this offseason, but Kalen DeBoer has taken time for interviews ahead of his third season at the University of Alabama.
Kalen DeBoer reveals the most competitive player he’s coached at Alabama
DeBoer sat down with AL.com to discuss how fired up he and his coaching staff are about this year for the Crimson Tide. He touched on a variety of topics, including one on who are the fastest players on the team.
The South Dakota native said several guys are hitting 22.5 to 23 miles per hour on the catapult system, yet he singled-out two athletes that may be the fastest.
“I don’t know who is officially the fastest player on the team, but I would put Ryan Coleman-Willams and Lotzier Brooks up there,” DeBoer said. “I would say they are two of the fastest on the team.”
Williams, a junior, looks to bounce back after a rough sophomore season.
He dazzled as a 17-year-old freshman in 2024.
The former five-star is projected to become a first-round selection in the 2027 NFL Draft. Brooks, a sophomore, had a good freshman campaign and a good spring. He finished with 32 catches for 441 yards and two touchdowns in 2025. Brooks, a New Jersey native, has versatility to be dangerous for the Tide.
