The Houston Gamblers announced that it has released former Alabama and Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa earlier this week.

Tagovailoa’s release comes after he was carted off the field with a leg injury during Houston’s 24-17 loss to the Columbus Aviators last Friday. He originally signed with Houston back in March.

The brother of legendary Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa initially followed in his footsteps in college playing under Nick Saban with the Crimson Tide after an impressive high school career. But after one season with the program, Tagovailoa transferred to Maryland breaking several passing records throughout his career.

Tagovailoa’s professional career has included tryouts with the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals before ultimately taking his talents to the Canadian Football League and European Football League.
