BREAKING: Selma explosive wide receiver flips from Auburn to Alabama

Cedrick Simmons has announced a verbal commitment to Alabama, flipping his commitment from Auburn.

Simmons is a 2027 wide receiver out of Selma High School in Selma, Alabama. He originally committed to the Tigers last month.

The Crimson Tide offered Simmons after he impressed at camp in June, and they got him on campus for an official visit soon after.

“What really stood out to me was learning about the standard they live by and why they’re always a top team in college football,” Simmons told Touchdown Alabama after the visit.

The in-state recruit grew up in a family full of Alabama fans.

“I watched Alabama,” Simmons said. “I really didn’t have no choice. My daddy is a big Alabama fan. My whole family is big Alabama fans. So, every Saturday, that’s all I saw on TV. That was… my favorite team growing up.”

The 5-foot-10, 190-pounder is a physical and explosive wide receiver, and he is built like a running back. He is coming off a season where he had more than 2,000 receiving yards, and he did this by displaying an ability to create separation, be a tough runner after the catch and while being able to climb the ladder and go up and get the football.
