In football, if there’s one position a team truly wants to have depth in, then it may be at wide receiver.

With as much going on as there is on offense at all times, guys can get gassed out fairly quickly, meaning depth becomes a priority. Without depth, a mediocre replacement for just one play could be an offense’s momentum, a score, or even the game.

As Alabama prepares for the 2026 season, here are some teams it’ll face that won’t have much issue with wide receiver depth.

No. 1 LSU

The LSU Tigers saw the arrival of new head coach Lane Kiffin in Baton Rouge late last season, giving them an instantaneous boost in recruiting from one of the most successful coaches at working the transfer portal.

It worked out for the Tigers, as they saw the addition of nine new wide receivers over the offseason. The new guys weren’t just nobodies, either; they were recognizable names like Florida’s Eugene Wilson III and Kansas State’s Jayce Brown.

Among other transfers and talented freshmen, Kiffin also brought in Hawaii’s Jackson Harris, a 6-foot-3 wide receiver who recorded almost 50 receptions for close to 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns last season.

No. 2 Texas A&M

Texas A&M’s standout quarterback Marcel Reed will have plenty of options in 2026. The Aggies made sure to bring in some top talent from the transfer portal, while also maintaining some of their key playmakers.

Most notably, head coach Mike Elko acquired Mississippi State star freshman wide receiver Mario Craver and an Alabama role player in Isaiah Horton, who had transferred from Miami before the 2025 season.

Craver tallied almost 1,000 receiving yards last season, while Horton and Texas A&M returner Ahston Bethel-Roman both acquired over 500 yards, giving the Aggies experience and depth, with plenty of talent waiting their turn.

No. 3 Tennessee

The Volunteers are returning two talented wideouts, Braylon Staley and Mike Matthews returning to Knoxville. Staley, the 2025 SEC Freshman of the Year, and Matthews, a former five-star, both recorded over 800 receiving yards last season.

Behind them, Tennessee will return two sophomore receivers who were both four-stars in the 2025 class, as well as bring in TK Keys, a five-star and No. 2-ranked wide receiver in the 2026 class. Though none of them are quite proven, the potential is there.

For a little more security, the Vols will also have Joakim Dodson, Staley’s backup from last season, and will also see the arrival of former Idaho State wide receiver Ian Duarte, who recorded over 500 receiving yards and did kick returns for the Bengals in 2025.
