Alabama football is set to open the 2026 college football season Saturday against East Carolina in Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
The game will kick off what is sure to be an intriguing college football season. With game week finally here, Touchdown Alabama’s staff took a swing at predicting how the Tide’s regular season will go.

Prediction: 11-1
Analysis:
Alabama football enters the 2026 season in an unfamiliar spot. They are literally flying under the radar in more ways than one.
With multiple factors weighed, I got the Crimson Tide finishing the regular season 11-1. The combination of an experienced defense and the potential to have an explosive offense with Keelon Russell at the forefront, make me feel comfortable leaning this way.
The Crimson Tide’s schedule is one of the toughest in college football, but it is not brutal from beginning to end. Opening the season against East Carolina, Kentucky and Florida State may actually give the Tide a shot to ease into the season.
Having tough matchups like Georgia and Texas A&M may also go over very well for Alabama as well. I feel the Tide will most likely fall on the road against LSU or at Tennessee.

Prediction: 10-2
Analysis:
The Alabama Crimson Tide took steps forward this offseason, but a 10-2 record in the regular season is the ceiling unless the Crimson Tide can fix the run game and not rely on quarterback Keelon Russell to be a hero every week.
Alabama’s depth on defense is promising, and the weapons on offense are looking explosive and reliable. However, the Crimson Tide offensive and defensive linemen will have a lot to do with whether Alabama wins its desired amount of ball games.
There is more concern surrounding the run game and the offensive line than Alabama’s defense line because the defensive line added some beef in the offseason. Wommack and the staff brought in some mass to strengthen the efforts up front. Players like Devan Thompkins, Kedrick Bingley-Jones and Terrance Green transferred in, but there’s also guys like London Simmons and Steve Bolo Mboumoua who are also over 300 pounds and can create chaos.
Alabama’s offensive line is the biggest question mark because of all the new faces and first-year starters. If the physicality and communication is not good this year, then 10-2 is definitely the ceiling for Alabama.
Under Kalen DeBoer, Alabama has lost at least one away game in each of his two seasons as head coach. Tennessee has beaten Alabama each of the last two times the Crimson Tide have visited Knoxville, so this could be a game to keep an eye on when making schedule predictions. The thing about the Crimson Tide’s losses under DeBoer is that the defeats can come out of nowhere. The 2024 Vanderbilt game and the 2025 Florida State game are perfect examples, and there could be one of those this year at some point.

Analysis:
I believe Alabama’s upside entering the 2026 season is massive considering their depth on both sides of the football. I predict the Crimson Tide to end the regular season with an 11-1 record, with the lone loss on the year coming on the road against LSU. Alabama has one of the toughest stretches in all of college football during SEC play this year, so the Tide’s depth and versatility will certainly need to be displayed throughout the entirety of conference play. Ultimately, I believe the Crimson Tide have one of the most talented and promising rosters in the nation entering Week 1, and a final record of 11-1 should be achievable.
