Alabama starting linebacker duo feeding off each other’s energy

The Alabama Crimson Tide have emerged with one of the most talented linebacker duos in all of college football throughout the early stages of 2026.

Former Virginia Tech linebacker Caleb Woodson has made an instant impact upon his arrival in Tuscaloosa. Sophomore Luke Metz has been excellent after earning the starting role alongside Woodson in fall camp as well, and the duo has been nothing short of elite through the first two weeks of play in 2026.

Woodson recently took a moment to share his experience in playing alongside Metz, as Woodson claims the duo has clicked both on and off the gridiron.

“It’s been great playing with Luke, we really feed off each others energy.” Woodson said. “We are really dialed in on our process every week, making sure that we are studying together and watching film. Getting keys from the offense, doing all we can to come out victorious on Saturday. It’s been great playing for the Tide and playing with Luke.”

Woodson and Metz combined for 20 total tackles, two sacks and two TFL during the Tide’s 45-17 victory in Lexington. Metz recorded a pick-six in the first half against the Wildcats as well, and the duo appears to be creating some major chemistry throughout the early stages of the season following Woodson’s comments.
