Florida State vs. Alabama currently in a lightning delay

The University of Alabama football team in action against Eastern Carolina University at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, AL on Saturday, Sep 5, 2026.

Approximately one hour before kickoff, an announcement was made inside Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium that the Florida State vs. Alabama game is in a lightning delay.

There was lightning detected within eight miles of the stadium, and NCAA protocol dictates that activities are suspended for 30 minutes, and every new lightning strike resets the clock. There must be 30 minutes of no lightning within eight miles of the stadium to resume activities.

Neither team has warmed up with pads on yet, but both teams have going through some sort of warmups without pads.

It is currently raining at this moment, and fans are seeking cover.

Stay tuned for updates.
