Former Alabama player tells what is a ‘major concern’ for Tide offense

Former Alabama football quarterback and three-time National Champion AJ McCarron feels pre-snap and operational issues are something the Tide has to clean up immediately.

Alabama’s coaching staff has talked about the Crimson Tide’s operational issues throughout the season. McCarron said he feels it is a major concern on “The Dynasty Podcast.”

“The one thing that is a major concern for me, I just don’t understand how we keep having it, is the pre-snap penalties and the miscommunication and not having enough guys on the field coming out of a timeout, not having the right personnel,” McCarron said. “That’s shocking to me. Like, that’s something That you can’t allow to happen. Those are things that get you beat. And when you play behind the sticks the entire time, it might work versus FSU. It’s not going to work versus Georgia. It’s not going to work versus LSU. It’s not going to work versus Tennessee. Why was Ole Miss successful this past week? They were ahead of the sticks a ton versus LSU, and it kept the momentum. What was LSU behind the sticks the entire first half? They had a ton of penalties. They had negative plays on first and second down, right? Like it works against bad teams, but it’s hard to stay and be successful when you start playing really good teams.”

Alabama will be looking to be better at operating as an offense against South Carolina on Saturday.
