Alabama and Georgia have represented the standard in the SEC for quite some time, and both of them losing on the same day was something that had not happened in almost two decades.

The Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs lost on the same day for the first time since 2006 on Saturday. Auburn beat Georgia, and Tennessee beat the Tide.

Kalen DeBoer was asked about this in his post-game press conference.

“I just heard that while walking here,” DeBoer said. “So just you know, you got to bring your A game every weekend. You got to have great preparation, and you got to make some plays when it really matters to you know and change the game. I don’t know what happened in those games, but I’m assuming they were somewhat close, and that’s what it’s going to be. We talk about life in the SEC. We talk about that. You got to reset, especially life on the road in the SEC. And so, you know, we’re going to have our backs to wall here. Other teams are too in the conference, and so you know again the depth of the conference. You know you are going to be in a dog fight every single weekend.”

DeBoer and company will likely have to win out if Alabama wants any shot at making the College Football Playoff.
