Derrick Henry joins MLS Club Ownership Group in Nashville

Derrick Henry puts a crown on his head after dominant performance for Titans in 2020 AFC Divisional Round vs. Ravens

Derrick Henry has accomplished many things in his seven years in the National Football League.

He is the most dominating running back in the league — capturing two rushing titles, two Pro Bowl selections, an NFL Offensive Player of the Year honor, and first-team All-Pro honors. Henry is the biggest face in Nashville (Tenn.) with three 1,000+ yard rushing seasons, including a 2,000-yard (2,027) campaign in 2020. The 6-foot-3, 247-pounder is now dipping into the business mogul side of life. According to a press release from the Nashville Soccer Club, Henry has joined its ownership group.

He becomes the second Heisman Trophy winner from Alabama football to serve as an owner of a professional team. Mark Ingram, Alabama’s first Heisman winner in 2009, joined D.C. United’s Ownership Group on June 4, 2021. Henry is the fourth NFL player in history to serve as an owner of a Major League Soccer team. He wants to invest in Nashville, and this is his route.

“As a kid growing up in Florida, I imagined being a professional sports owner and the opportunity to do that with a Major League Soccer club is truly a dream come true,” Henry said in a statement.

He is incredible on the field and a businessman off of it. Henry totaled 937 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns in 2021, despite a foot injury limiting him to eight games. He will return healthy for next season, and Titan fans are excited to see him.
