Jordan Renaud is set to enroll at the University of Alabama in January, and he is ready to put in work behind the scenes.
Renaud is a product of Tyler Legacy High School in Texas, but he is originally from Florida. He garners a four-star rating from multiple recruiting sites.
The Alabama commit chose the Crimson Tide over the Oklahoma Sooners in September. He told Touchdown Alabama he chose the Tide because he knew what the program had to offer.
“I knew the legacy that came with Coach Saban,” Renaud said. “I knew what he would be bringing to the table. I knew that he was a defensive minded coach. I knew that when he put his hands on something, it turns into a diamond. Everybody that came through this program for the past 15 years went to the league first round or just went to the league. I knew that they were going to push me mentally, physically and spiritually. I also knew the class they were bringing in and we were recruiting at the time was going to be something to behold.”
The Florida native will arrive on campus next month, and he plans to have a hardworking mindset.
“My mindset is going to be, keep your head down and grind, honestly,” Renaud said. “Then when I look up, I know it is going to be something good…Not to take nobody’s spot but share a spot with somebody like how Big O (Jaheim Oatis) did. I feel like every time I see Big O I got to give him big love because he really putting on for the freshmen. So if O started his first year or shared started position his first year, I can do it too, but I am working.”
At 6-foot-3 and 245 pounds, Renaud is an intriguing prospect because of his versatility. He has the potential to play different positions along the defensive line, but Alabama plans to line him up at defensive end.
