Alabama 5-Star QB target set to announce commitment decision

Elijah Haven is set to announce his commitment decision on Saturday.

Haven attends Dunham High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and he is set to choose between Alabama and Georgia. He garners a five-star rating from most recruiting sites, and he is the consensus No. 1 quarterback in the country for the 2027 recruiting class.

The Crimson Tide last hosted Haven for A-Day, and the visit was a success.

“It was amazing,” Haven told Touchdown Alabama. “The whole A-Day was great.”

The visit was the latest of several visits to Tuscaloosa for the five-star. Alabama’s former quarterbacks coach Nick Sheridan helped put the Tide in a great position with Haven during the 2025 season, along with the Tide’s offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb. Sheridan’s leaving for Michigan State to be the Spartans’ offensive coordinator forced Haven to refocus things a bit, but it did not take long for Alabama’s new quarterbacks coach Bryan Ellis to pick up where Sheridan left off and help the Tide remain in a strong position with the five-star, with a source extremely close to Haven’s recruitment coming out to tell Touchdown Alabama the Tide remained the clear-cut leader for him soon after Sheridan’s departure.

Getting Haven on campus for A-Day looks to have been a plus for Alabama for a few different reasons. It gave Alabama’s staff a chance to talk with Haven and his family, and the visit allowed Grubb to put a small preview of his future offense on display with Keelon Russell having a big day.

“I thought the offense did some great things,” Haven said. “Obviously, they are still putting it together, but it’s only the spring. I am excited to see them in the fall.”

Georgia has remained a top contender for Haven alongside the Tide through each cut of his recruitment to this point, which does hold some weight.

If Haven were to commit to Alabama, he would become the Tide’s second 2027 quarterback pledge, joining Trent Seaborn.
