The University of Alabama football program has had blessings in the form of transfer players.
Richard Mullaney, Gehrig Dieter, Jacob Coker, Landon Dickerson, and Jameson Williams proved to be impactful players who assisted the Crimson Tide to conference championships or national championships.

Jahmyr Gibbs, a transfer running back from Georgia Tech, arrived in Tuscaloosa during the spring.
He was one of six transfer players on the Tide’s roster this season, but Gibbs was the most productive of the group. He averaged 6.3 yards per rush attempt in his first year at Alabama, totaling 850 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. Gibbs collected six 100-yard performances from scrimmage and three 100+ yard rushing games, including a 200+ yard outing (206) against Arkansas.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pounder caught a team-high 42 passes for 378 receiving yards and three scores. Gibbs did not play in a bowl game during his tenure at Georgia Tech. He is excited about getting postseason action as a junior for the Tide. Gibbs wants to end the season with a Sugar Bowl victory after not making the playoff.
“The season has not gone the way we wanted it to, but we are trying to finish with a win,” Gibbs said Tuesday during his media availability for reporters.
Gibbs lived up to the expectations people had for him as an explosive playmaker, but all he wants is to win.
“I did not set any personal goals for myself, I just want to win,” he said. “We probably did not win as much as we wanted to, but we are trying to finish the season off right.

The idea of opting out was never on Gibbs’ mind. He wanted a bowl game experience, and now he gets one with the Tide.
Gibbs and Alabama will battle Kansas State on New Year’s Eve at 11 a.m. CT at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, La.
