Alabama fans were excited when Nick Saban hired Austin Armstrong to coach inside linebackers on Feb. 13.
The 32-year-old came over from Southern Mississippi to be with the Crimson Tide, but his tenure lasted eight days. He accepted a defensive coordinator position Wednesday from the University of Florida. Armstrong is reunited with former Saban assistant, Billy Napier. Alabama now has two defensive openings on its coaching staff, inside linebackers coach and safeties coach.
Several Tide fans reacted on Twitter to Armstrong’s decision to leave.
He left just to get his head beat in by UGA & to go 6-6 🤣🤣🤷🏾♂️ https://t.co/bAYQKbXMw8

Congratulations to him for his promotion. I hope he does well – unless he’s playing Bama.

Seems Armstrong was never serious about embracing his opportunity. Don’t let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out Austin.
