Kalen DeBoer has agreed to a deal to replace Nick Saban as the head football coach at the University of Alabama, according to ESPN’s Chris Low.
DeBoer has spent the last two college football season as the Washington Huskies’ head football coach. He went 25-3 in that span. He led Washington to the National Championship last season, but they came up short against Michigan earlier this month.
According to Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger, “Alabama owes Washington about $12 million in buyout money. That, combined with DeBoer’s likely $10M+ salary, makes this an incredibly expensive move from the Crimson Tide – a commitment of near or over $100 million.”
The post-Saban era looks to have started in Tuscaloosa.
