Will Alabama have Malachi Moore, two others for matchup against Georgia?

Kent Gidley - Alabama Athletics

Qua Russaw was an urgent injury update, but Kalen DeBoer provided reporters on Malachi Moore, Richard Young, and Cole Adams on Monday as Alabama faces Georgia this weekend.

Moore suffered a hit to the head (concussion) against the Wisconsin. The veteran defensive back ‘was able to practice last week,’ according to Coach DeBoer during the bye week. He is expected to play versus the Bulldogs. Moore, a fifth-year senior, has 16 total tackles, two pass breakups, and a forced fumble. He is the best communicator in the secondary and a team captain.

Adams, a redshirt freshman, sustained an arm injury against South Florida. He did not play against Wisconsin, so Adams has had two weeks to rest up. DeBoer stated that Adams is practicing ahead of the Georgia matchup. He said during the Tide’s bye week that Adams took ‘positive steps’ toward being healthy. The Oklahoma native is a quality piece in the wide receiver rotation.

He is also Alabama’s starting punt returner.

“We are just working him back slowly,” DeBoer said about Adams.

Hopefully, the Tide will have Adams against the Bulldogs.

If not, Jaylen Mbakwe — a freshman — will return punts. Young, a redshirt freshman, is also ‘working back slowly’ via Coach DeBoer. The second-year running back suffered a lower leg injury like Russaw against Wisconsin. Alabama has depth at the position with Justice Haynes, Jam Miller, Daniel Hill, and Kevin Riley, but it would like to have Young for this week.

It looks like Alabama may have Moore and Russaw, but we will have see about Adams and Young.
