Alabama transfer WR prepared for impactful game versus Georgia

Gary Cosby Jr. - USA Today Sports

Kalen DeBoer has a bonafide star in Alabama’s offense at wide receiver.

Ryan Williams has been more than impressive as a 17-year-old freshman phenom.

He leads the Crimson Tide for catches (10), receiving yards (285), and touchdowns (four) through three games, but Georgia looks to remove him from the equation in Saturday’s marquee Southeastern Conference showdown. If the Bulldogs successfully limit Williams, then this becomes a huge opportunity for Germie Bernard.

The transfer from Washington followed Kalen DeBoer, Nick Sheridan, and JaMarcus Shephard to the University of Alabama to play in big time matchups. Shephard was happy to get Bernard into the end zone two weeks ago for his first touchdown as a member of the Tide against Wisconsin. Now, a moment arrives for Sheridan to create favorable matchups for Bernard to dominate. He stands second in the room for receptions (eight) and yards (125) with one touchdown. Bernard caught a 26-yard score from Jalen Milroe in Alabama’s 42-10 win over the Badgers.

Sheridan sees the comfortability and confidence growing between Milroe and Bernard.

The Las Vegas (Nev.) native has been a good complement in the room. He is prepared to shine under the lights on Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium, especially if the ‘Dawgs take away Williams. It is going to be fun watching Bernard this weekend.
