It seems like this Alabama team has had analysts’ opinions on it change on a dime with every performance both good and bad.
ESPN’s Paul Finebaum is just one of those analysts who has both backed and cast off the Crimson Tide at different points in the season, especially a week ago when it was embarrassed on the road at Oklahoma.
But now, after capping off the regular season with a 28-14 win over Auburn in the Iron Bowl, and seeing how the rest of the country faired in rivalry week, Finebaum may be back in Alabama’s corner down the home stretch of the College Football Playoff rankings.
“I am gravitating back towards Alabama because I know they are capable of beating good teams,” Finebaum said during an appearance on The Matt Barrie Show. “I’d rather put in a flawed team who can beat a good team like Georgia, than just put someone in because they have a win over the N0. 23 team in the country.”
Along with Alabama, Miami, South Carolina and Clemson are just a few vying for the back end spots in the expanded 12 team playoff.
With conference championship week approaching, the Crimson Tide may still need some help from other programs in order to officially compete for a national titles. But Alabama will have a better idea of where it stands during Tuesday’s College Football Playoff rankings reveal show.
