Over the years, Alabama has utilized the transfer portal to aid in building the best roster possible. Now, the Crimson Tide will use the transfer portal to supplement its roster yet again for the 2025 season. It is pivotal that Alabama has success in the transfer portal, and I will discuss why that is the case.
With the way that college football has evolved in recent years, it is crucial that prestigious programs use the transfer portal to add talent to their rosters. It helps strengthen the roster from a number’s standpoint and can oftentimes turn out to be beneficial for both the player and the program. While that is not always the case, it has been for Alabama in particular more times than not.
Several transfers over the years that have been intricate pieces for the Crimson Tide are Jermaine Burton, Jameson Williams, and Landon Dickerson. Each helped contribute to the team’s success and have gone on to have successful careers in the NFL.
Alabama supplemented its roster in a big way last offseason. General manager Courtney Morgan was vital in helping Alabama land transfers like Germie Bernard, Parker Brailsford, LT Overton, and Keon Sabb. Each of which were starters for the Crimson Tide in 2024.
I would expect Alabama to continue to use the transfer portal to fill its needs and add needed depth at certain positions. It will definitely be interesting to see how Alabama supplements its roster this offseason.
