Former Alabama wide receiver Nikita Stover was announced as the new head coach at Hayden High School on Monday. Stover was previously the head coach at Decatur Heritage High School.
The Alabama native played in three seasons with the Crimson Tide. Stover reeled in 28 receptions for 424 yards and five touchdowns during that time. Prior to transferring to Alabama, Stover played at Itawamba Community College. In one season there, he recorded 26 receptions for 588 yards and six touchdowns.
It is always interesting to see where players from the early 2000s end up and their career path. Stover attained a 20-11 record in three seasons at Decatur Heritage. In 2024, he led the program to a 7-3 record. He will join a program that holds a 45-80 record over the course of the last 12 seasons. Stover will have some work to do, but he is capable of turning the program around over time. Needless to say, it will certainly be interesting to follow the Wildcats and Stover during the 2025 season.
