Alabama football’s wide receiver, Germie Bernard will have a new quarterback throwing to him this fall, and Keelon Russell is in completion to be said quarterback.
Bernard returned to Alabama for another season after being very productive in the receiving game in 2024.
Russell enrolled at the University of Alabama in January with plans to compete to start as a freshman for the Crimson Tide. The freshman went through his first week of spring practice with Alabama last week.
Bernard revealed he is confident in the long-term upside of Russell after going through a few practices.
“He is young, but I think that his mindset is really well,” Bernard said. “He has a lot to learn, but I think he’s going to be a great quarterback.”
Alabama’s football’s head coach echoed Bernard’s sentiment while talking about Russell during his Monday press conference.
“He’s up there. He certainly is,” DeBoer said. “He’s got a long ways to go because I think that’s the way he looks at it. And he’s excited about what this growth is going to be even during the spring. But his ceiling and what he accomplished through what you can see on the high school film, he’s a pretty elite quarterback.”
Alabama quarterback’s competition is expected to resume when Crimson Tide players return for spring break.
