LSU’s interim head football coach Frank Wilson appeared to send a message to the Tigers’ players, staff members, fans and athletic department on Thursday.

The message is the Tigers are planning to come to Tuscaloosa with a focus on coming away with a win, despite them dealing with the aftermath of firing Brian Kelly.

Wilson opened his latest press conference by sharing he put his players in a position to envision beating Alabama with a late-game decision to close practice on Thursday.

“We were down by seven,” Wilson said. “We needed a touchdown and to put ourselves in position in Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa and have to make a decision. That decision would be, would we go for one to go into overtime or would we go for two to win the football game? And make no doubt about it, we’re going to try to win a football game. If we’re in that position, we want everybody on our football team and our organization to know that we’re going to do our very best to win a football game and not extend play as we get into that position.”

LSU looks to have its mind focused on pulling off an upset in Tuscaloosa on Saturday night.

Kalen DeBoer knows this one could be a dog fight, and he has stressed to his team the importance of not taking any opponent for granted. He has also challenged the Alabama fan base to do more.

“We got to do our part as a football team to give you something to cheer for,” DeBoer said on “Hey Coach and the Kalen DeBoer Show.” “But just I’m asking more. We always tell our players, you’ve got more in you, and that’s been our motto since really the beginning, and especially this year is you have more in you. And I tell them just like that, they have more, I have more in me. And so I’m gonna ask the fan base that they got more in them, too. From beginning to end, I know that they’re used to winning games at home, and let’s not take it for granted. And let’s all do our part to make it a special night on Saturday.”

Alabama and LSU will settle things on the field on Saturday night.
