Former Alabama defensive lineman joins high school football powerhouse coaching staff

Alabama DL Nick Gentry (#58) celebrates a big play in 2012 BCS National Championship Game versus LSU.

Nick Gentry has joined the Thompson High School football coaching staff as an assistant coach.

Gentry, who is a native of Prattville, Alabama, played for the Tide for five seasons and was a member of Alabama’s 2009 and 2011 National Championship teams. He finished his career with the Tide with 5.5 sacks

The Warriors will be in search of another state championship this fall, and Gentry looks as if he will definitely help the powerhouse. He has previous coaching experience at the collegiate and high school football level.

Thompson has won six state championships in the last seven years, and the Warriors are the reigning back-to-back Alabama 7A State Champions. The program will be looking to secure a 6A State Championship this fall after the state reverted away from having a 7A classification.
