What should be on Alabama football’s Christmas wish list?

Alabama football is one of the eight teams still chasing a National Championship on Christmas Day.

The Crimson Tide is set to take on Indiana in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day after storming back from being down 17 and beating Oklahoma in the first round of the College Football Playoff.

There have been times when the Tide has played like the best team in the country, but there have been plenty of other times when Alabama did not live up to that billing. In the spirit of Christmas, here is a look at what should be on the Tide’s Christmas wish list:

A National Championship

This is at the top of the list for all of the Alabama football faithful. The Tide is going after its 19th National Championship. The last time Alabama took home the crown was during the 2020-2021 college football season. It was the last title Nick Saban brought to the program. Alabama has a puncher’s chance at winning this year’s championship with what some consider to be a favorable path in the playoff.

A Consistent Run Game

Alabama football lacked a consistent run game for a good portion of the 2025 football season. The Tide’s backfield managed to pick up 54 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries against the Sooners, and this was considered a significant improvement from the 21 yards they rushed for against Georgia in the SEC Championship. Alabama’s rushing attack will likely not go through a massive transformation in the Rose Bowl, but the Tide would love to have some resemblance of a solid and consistent rushing attack.

The Reemergence Of Ryan Williams

Williams remains one of the most talented wide receivers in the country. However, his season has been riddled with dropped passes and a lack of involvement in the Alabama offense. The reemergence of the magic Williams brings to the gridiron will be a welcome addition for the Tide in the Rose Bowl.

Ty Simpson returning to early-season form

Ty Simpson showed flashes of what he looked like early in the season against Oklahoma when he was able to stand up in the pocket and deliver some great throws when the Tide was able to effectively protect him and his wideouts did their part by making great catches. Alabama could be hard to beat if Simpson is playing at this level.
