Alabama football is not a fan of any disrespect aimed at Kalen DeBoer and the toughness of the 2025 Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Tide is 11-3 and is set to take on Indiana in the Rose Bowl in the second round of the College Football Playoff. Simpson, who is one of the leaders on the team, joined the “Closed on Sundays Podcast,” and he revealed what really gets under Alabama players’ skin.

“Honestly, like the thing that pisses us off the most as a team is when they come after coach DeBoer, like that frustrates us to a certain extent,” Simpson said. “Then two, when they talk about like Kalen DeBoer’s team and the 2025 Alabama team, like isn’t tough, that really gets under our skin because one, playing in the SEC is tough anyway and not only that, playing at Alabama is tough. So, the stuff that we have to go through on a daily basis, and then not only that, but like fourth quarter in the summer workouts, right, like running stadiums and stuff that people don’t do, right, like that really frustrates us. And then the schedule that we go through. Like, you know, playing at Florida State, right, like we know what we did there, but that was a hostile environment and we learned from that. But then going to Athens, playing a ranked Vanderbilt team, playing a ranked Missouri team at the time, Tennessee, right, like going to South Carolina, playing Oklahoma twice. Just things that build up over time that most teams can’t do in two years.”

Simpson is hoping Alabama feeds off of its doubters. He told media members they fueled Alabama when they doubted the Tide in the first round.

“I guess we can thank you guys for that,” Simpson said when addressing the media after Alabama defeated Oklahoma. “Y’all kind of wrote us off. I appreciate that.”

Alabama will be back in action on New Year’s Day when the Tide takes on Indiana in the Rose Bowl.
