Thompson 4-Star DB committing this month

Junior Tu’upo is looking to announce a commitment later this month.

Tu’upo attends Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama, and he is a 2027 four-star recruit. He is considering Alabama, Auburn, Indiana, Oregon and Texas. The Hoosiers and Ducks have hosted the four-star for an official visit. Texas, Auburn and Alabama are next up.

“I’m taking these last three schools in, and then after that I’ll start deciding which schools I like and which ones I don’t want to go with,” Tu’upo told Touchdown Alabama. “I’ll be committing in the last week of June.”

Texas is next up for the rising senior after officially visiting Oregon and Indiana. Alabama and Auburn are expected to wrap up official visits for Tu’upo.

The Crimson Tide has placed itself in a solid position with James. The Tide’s defensive back Jason Jones is helping lead the Tide’s push for the in-state recruit. His teammate and Alabama quarterback commit Trent Seaborn is also trying to get him to Tuscaloosa.

“My relationship with Alabama is growing,” Tu’upo previously told Touchdown Alabama. “I love coach Jones. I love coach DeBoer, all of the coaches I talk to down there, and it is right next to home, so, I would be down there a lot.”

Auburn has also done a great job recruiting the defensive back. He praised their staff after a spring visit.

“When I went down to Auburn, they had a ton of hospitality,” said Tu’upo. “The coaches showed a ton of interest and treated my family with a lot of love. After practice i spent a lot of time with coach (Tim) Banks, coach (Alex) Fegan, and coach Buddy (Brusky), kind of just talking football and catching up with each other. I’d say my relationships with their coaches are definitely building.”

At 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, the 2027 prospect was a ball-hawking defensive back for the Warriors during the last football season. He displayed versatility while lining up at different spots within the Warriors’ defense. He was exceptional against the run when he was called upon to get downhill and make tackles. He also stood out in coverage with his length.
