How Alabama players responded to ‘incredible speech’ from Bray Hubbard after back-to-back losses

One of Alabama football’s captains and defensive leaders Bray Hubbard delivered a speech to the Crimson Tide players in a team meeting this week after he had something to ‘get off his chest.’

The meeting expanded upon DeBoer’s statement about things getting uncomfortable in Tuscaloosa.

“Bray gave us an incredible speech about being uncomfortable,” Alabama tight end Marshall Pritchett said. “I think DeBoer addressed the media with that after the game. I think our whole motto, since I’ve got here, is be comfortable being uncomfortable… I remember in the summer when I was pushing a sled with six plates. So being uncomfortable, it’s a blessing. Like, it’s an opportunity. And, like I said, everything’s ahead of us on the horizon. We’re pretty much in the playoffs now with no errors. Just being comfortable, being uncomfortable has kind of been the model of the day, and we went out on the practice field, and I don’t think it was, nobody was moping, nobody was dragging their head. It’s just, let’s go out there and fly around, and have fun. I thought the tone was set off the first place, people were hitting each other, and that’s what’s exactly what you want. That’s exactly how I could picture, imagine coming back off the loss.”

Michael Carroll, who starts at right guard for the Crimson Tide, feels the response to Hubbard’s speech has been positive.

“Definitely an elite response from the guys all around as a group,” Carroll said. ” Taking this week extremely seriously and definitely an uptick in the tenacity from everyone.”

Alabama is coming off back-to-back losses. Georgia beat Alabama at home two weeks ago, and the Tide was defeated by Tennessee last week.

Ivan Taylor was among the bright spots for Alabama against Tennessee. The defender feels Hubbard’s message made it clear that the Tide still has an opportunity to control its own destiny.

“Everything that we need is ahead of us,” Taylor said. “So just the things that we need to do, we’re cleaned up, we’ll get going, and then just put our head down to work.”

Alabama will be back in action Saturday when the Tide takes on Texas A&M.
